Our Closet Design Process: What to Expect From Start to Finish

One of the biggest reasons people put off a closet project is simply not knowing what the process looks like. Will it be complicated? Time consuming? Will someone show up and start measuring before you even know what you want?

At Closet Concepts of Grand Rapids, we built our closet design process around making things as simple and stress-free as possible. So far, we have completed over 2,000 storage projects across West Michigan, and every single one has followed the same straightforward path. Here’s exactly what you can expect.

Step 1: Let’s Talk

Every project starts with a conversation. We want to hear about your space, your lifestyle, and what’s not working about your current setup. You can book a consult virtually, visit our showroom in Byron Center, or have us come to you. Whatever works best for your schedule.

This first step is about listening. There’s no pressure and no obligation. Simply put, we just want to understand what you need so we can point you in the right direction.

Step 2: See Your Design

Once we understand your space and goals, our team gets to work. We’ll create a custom 3D walkthrough based on your needs and goals and send a virtual preview of your new space right to your inbox.

For many of our clients, this is the most exciting part of the closet design process. You get to see your future space come to life before we build anything. Plus, you can share it with your household, revisit it as many times as you like, and come back with questions.

Step 3: Refine the Plan

This is where we get it exactly right. Once you have had a chance to review your design, we work through your feedback together. We’ll tweak every detail to match your vision, whether that’s adjusting a layout, swapping a finish, or reconfiguring a storage zone.

As a result, nothing moves forward until you’re genuinely happy with the plan. The goal is to make sure your new space works exactly the way you need it to before we ever schedule an install.

Step 4: Final Review

Before installation day, we schedule a site visit to confirm every measurement and make sure everything is accurate. We do this so that nothing is left to chance. Our team verifies every shelf, cabinet, and drawer against your actual space so the install goes smoothly from start to finish.

As a result, it’s a small step that makes a big difference.

Step 5: Install and Enjoy

Installation day is the fun part. Our local West Michigan team arrives on time and delivers high-quality results. When we leave, your space is organized, beautiful, and ready to use.

We serve homeowners across Grand Rapids, Rockford, Ada, Jenison, Caledonia, Kentwood, Wyoming, and the surrounding West Michigan area. No matter where you are, you get the same level of care and craftsmanship on every project.

Why West Michigan Homeowners Choose Closet Concepts

Our closet design process centers on one simple idea: your home should work better for you. Not just look better. Actually work better, every single day.

We design and install custom built storage systems for every room. That includes walk-ins and reach-ins, pantries, mudrooms, garages, laundry rooms, and home offices. Because we craft every system locally in West Michigan, we can tailor it to your space and make sure professionals who care install it right.

We are a small local business and we take that seriously. When you work with us, you get one on one attention, personalized solutions, and a team that’s invested in getting it right. In other words, we’re not a national chain. We’re your neighbors, and we strive to brighten someone’s day, every day.
